Please join St. Louis Forum as we welcome Consuelo Madere, President, Monsanto Vegetable Seed Division.
By 2050, United Nations’ experts say our planet must double food production to feed an anticipated population of 9.3 billion people. A dwindling water supply coupled with farmers in need, increased demands for energy, and a rapidly changing climate have placed more pressures on agriculture than ever before. How do we overcome these obstacles?
Understanding all the challenges is the first step to creating solutions. As a company 100% focused on agriculture, Monsanto works to apply innovation and technology to help farmers around the world produce more while conserving more. Monsanto helps farmers grow yield sustainably so they can be successful, produce healthier foods, better animal feeds and more fiber, while also reducing agriculture's impact on the environment.
Consuelo Madere is currently the President of the Monsanto Global Vegetable Seeds Division. Prior to assuming this role in July 2008, Consuelo was the General Manager for Monsanto’s Crop Chemistry, Seed and Biotech business across Europe and Africa, based in Morges, Switzerland.
Before her move to Europe, Consuelo was President of the Monsanto Dairy Business. She also held the positions of Regional Business Director for the North Central Region of Monsanto’s United States agricultural business focused on seed, biotech traits and crop chemistry, as well as the North America Technology Development Director for the United States and Canada.
Consuelo has also been an advocate in the St. Louis community, including prior service on both the St. Louis Science Center’s development committee, and the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House Advisory Committee. In addition, Consuelo served for 2 years as a member of the not-for-profit board of the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation, which is focused on leadership development for women across the state of Missouri.
She currently serves as a member of the board for the not-for-profit Guardian Angels Settlement Association, an organization focused on programs to help break the cycle of poverty in the downtown St. Louis area’s most impoverished zip codes.
Consuelo has ben awarded the YWCA Leader of Distinction Award and has been recognized by Diversity Journal as one of the 100 “Women Worth Watching”. She has also been named one of the “most influential women in business” by the St. Louis Business Journal.
